WEST NATION NEWLETTER FOLDINGS
West Nation foldings are TBD for the 2020-21 school year. Any updates will be provided via email, social media and the website.
What is a newsletter folding? It's a chance to meet other Glenbard West parents and share information and gets questions answered. A member of the Glenbard West Administration will also be present to speak on happenings at West and answer questions you may have. It's a great way to feel like you are "in the know" on happenings at West! Please feel free to come for as long as your schedule permits!
Foldings take place at 9:30 am at the West Facilities Center, in front of the tennis courts. Parking on Crescent is permitted during the folding time. Parking is allowed on both sides of Crescent Avenue. Please do not park in numbered spots or 1 hour parking.
Possible West Nation Folding Dates for 2020/2021:
DONATE TO WEST NATION
We understand that not all schedules allow for volunteering at events. If you are able to make a donation to help support the many activities West Nation sponsors, it would be greatly appreciated.
Purchase of this Membership will confirm your support for West Nation’s many service and social activities and add you to our mailing list for upcoming events, volunteer opportunities and other updates.
In addition, it will provide one student full admittance to certain West Nation activities for this coming school year. Potential activities include Circle Drive Dance; Punt, Pass & Kick; Dodgeball and Spring Fling.
Contingent upon District 87 guidelines for COVID-19 safety, West Nation hopes to offer 2 to 4 “Member Activities” in 2020-2021.
ACTS, Advocating Character Through Service, provides students with three service opportunities throughout the year:
Due to distance learning, we will be launching remote volunteer opportunites so stay tuned!
All four Glenbard schools and the middle schools are encouraged to participate. The students write letters of thanks and Gratitude to their teachers and members of the community. Each year over 2500 thank you notes are written.
VALENTINE'S FOR VETS
Join us and acknowledge the dedication of the brave men and women who have sacrificed greatly on our behalf.
Valentines will be sent to Hospitalized Veterans in Illinois Medical Centers/Overseas Medical Facilities and current military.
PRESIDENT'S DAY OF SERVICE / PROJECT LINUS
Provide love, a sense of security, warmth, and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets.
Interested in helping? Not only do we need helpers on the day, but we also need supplies. Please contact JEN CORONA if you can help!
FATHER DAUGHTER DANCE
One of the most favorite dances of the year is the West Nation Father Daughter Dance. Girls and their fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, uncles or mentors enjoy a night of dancing and fun. This dance is a fundraiser for Post Prom and offers several ways for parents to volunteer.
Post Prom is an event that West Nation is proud to sponsor. After students attend prom (or juniors and seniors not attending prom) students can purchase tickets and arrive at Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center for an evening of food, games and great prizes (Lollapolooza tickets, computers, printers and more!)
This event has broken attendance records year after year! It takes several months of preparation and planning so please consider getting on board to continue building this SAFE and successful event!
LIVE LIFE WELL BREAKFAST
Live Life Well Breakfast is a part of the Live Life Well Week held at Glenbard West and throughout the district.
Parents/volunteers/businesses provide donated breakfast items to feed the entire school breakfast.
FACULTY APPRECIATION DINNER
A faculty appreciation event for the 20-21 school year will be coordinated at some time after in-person instruction resumes.
During the first evening of parent/teacher conferences, West Nation provides a light dinner to over 125 faculty and staff. Teachers and staff look forward every year to the delicious homemade salads and desserts provided by parent volunteers.
